Amadou & Mariam Announce Spring Tour

Husband & wife teams are a bit of the rage touring right now with Bird & Bee, Dresden Dolls, Mistress Stephanie, and well . . . Husband & Wife among others making party music for us and piling up stress on their relationships.

Go ahead and add Mariam Doumbia and her husband Amadou Bagayoko, better known as Amadou & Mariam, to my woefully incomplete list. For 30 years A & M have been making and performing their ballad/Afro-pop music. Welcome To Mali, their latest LP releases March 24th, and the duo plan a Spring tour in support. These are big venues, so in a struggling $$$ environment the artists are showing confidence that M & A can place paying butts in seats.

Just last month in San Diego Political Afro-Pop sensation Fema Kouti had to cancel a gig at the much smaller capacity House of Blues [when compared to Cricket in Chula Vista] for lack of ticket sales. hmmm.
